Author’s Statement: Yankee The Fish A Journey of Faith, Perseverance, and Imagination My name is Debra George, and I am the proud author of Yankee The Fish. When I first began writing this children’s book back in 2017, It was published under my maiden name, Flanagan. Now, eight years and four months later, I am thrilled to see this story finally completed—a testament to perseverance and the message to never give up on your dreams. Yankee The Fish is more than just a children’s tale; it carries an underlying message inspired by one of God’s commandments, reflecting the importance of faith in my life. The story follows Yankee, a young and curious catfish who, by not listening to her mother, takes an unexpected tumble over Niagara Falls. Through her journey, Yankee learns a valuable life lesson—one that I hope inspires young readers to make wise choices and cherish the guidance of those who care for them. The book’s pristine illustrations bring Yankee’s world to life, adding wonder and depth to the story and making it a captivating experience for children and parents alike.
